Great Dunmow Town trail

Meet at 7.30pm in Great Dunmow White Street Long Stay car park (CM6 1AB) for an evening stroll around the town. You'll see plenty of historic buildings including the 13th century church and 16th Century Town Hall and Clock House.

Cross Parsonage Down with its green and thatched cottages, see the old Smithy, the Pest House and the Lock-up. Find out about Dunmow's contribution to the development of the lifeboat, and the story of the Dunmow Fitch.

Sunday 10^th September

Standon & Much Hadham

A 12-mile hike in rural Hertfordshire, through gentle hills and valleys, passing small woods, pretty villages and two country pubs.

Meet at 10.30am St Mary’s Church in Standon, SG11 1LB (grid ref TL396222, ///inched.support.commander). Parking on the High Street. Please bring lunch.

Preparation for trip to Isles of Scilly

Time for all the Scilly people to get excited about the forthcoming trip. Tresco gardens are on my list.

Everyone welcome to join us on Zoom from 8.30pm.

Thursday 21^st Sept to Tuesday 3^rd Oct

Isles of Scilly

We'll be staying at Longstone Lodge in the centre of St.Mary's (the largest of the islands). The lodge provides high quality hostel-style accommodation; we can get there by ferry from Penzance, and then take day trips for coastal walks exploring each of the five inhabited islands and possibly boat trips to see a few of the uninhabited islands.

Thursday 21 September Train to Penzance - YHA Penzance hostel (2 nights)
Friday 22 September Day to explore Penzance
Saturday 23 September Morning Ferry to St Mary's, Scilly - Longstone Lodge (9 nights)
8 full days to explore the islands
Monday 2 October Afternoon Ferry to Penzance - Longboat Inn, Penzance (1 night)
Tuesday 3 October Train to London
