Wednesday 3rd April Pub Night - Leather Bottle Ali Join us for a beer and some chat at this lovely little pub in the middle of Pleshey village, CM3 1HG. Bear in mind that mid-week they close at 9:30pm, so don’t come late George. Wednesday 10th April Committee Meeting Join us on Zoom for an evening discussing events for August and trips for next year. Wednesday 17th April Old Court Theatre: Cress Join us for an evening at the Old Court Theatre for the play "Things I Know to be True" by Andrew Bovell. "This play is simply beautiful. Full of love, heartbreak and shattering truths. It’s a universal story that I guarantee everyone will relate to. The main themes of the play are family, love, and how beautiful and how tragic love can be. It’s a story that is full of heart." The play starts at 19:45 and the box office opens 45 mins beforehand. Please let Cressida know if you are thinking of coming. Cost £13 (£11 concs), but add £2 if you are booking online. Sunday 21st April Walk Walk: Albury and Braughing Dave P Meet at Albury Church, (postcode SG11 2JQ, grid ref TL435247, ///revolts.radically.bothered) at 10:30am for a delightful walk of about 8 miles. The route takes in rolling views over this part of Hertfordshire, the village of Braughing (pronounced braffing) and part of Furneux Pelham (pronounced furnix). Find out what a Hertfordshire Spike is, and discover the tradition of 'Old Man's Day'. There is a pub in Braughing, but please bring sandwiches for lunch. Wednesday 24th April Slovenia Slideshow Jim & Jonathan An evening of sunshine and mountains as Jim and Jonathan take us through the Julian Alps to Ljubljana and Lake Bohinj.
Sunday 28th April Doug's Birthday Walk: Havering and Bedfords Country parks Doug Giant redwoods, rolling landscaped parkland, meadow, woodland and marsh. Meet at Elmer Avenue, Havering-atte-Bower,RM4 1PY, at 10.30am. This short road runs off Orange Tree Hill on the Romford (west) side of the village, and offers street parking, as does Wellingtonia Avenue, entrance to the east side of the park, which Elmer Avenue runs into. The walk is about 7 miles through 2 country parks, with a pub between them, and a cafe in the 2nd, within its Nature Discovery Centre, with great views over East London and Kent. Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm on Zoom. Please get in touch for joining instructions. |
