A Week in Budapest

Cress

Staying at Flow hostel in the centre of the Hungarian capital. Cruise on the Danube, stroll down the cobbled streets amongst the medieval buildings of old Buda with its Castle and Royal Palace. See the Basilica of Saint Stephen and the famous Parliament buildings.

Cost expected to be around £600 for bed, flights, and food. There are some twin, double and 4-bed rooms available.

Rodings & Willingale Bike Ride

Meet at by the duck pond on Writtle Green (free carpark nearby, CM1 3DT) at 10:30am for a bike ride taking in Willingale and the Rodings. Be sure to bring lunch with you, but we are bound to stop for refreshments en route.

Boreham & Queen's Head walk

Meet outside The Queens Head, Boreham CM3 3EG (next door to the church) at 7:30pm for a short walk of 4 miles out to Papermill Lock and back. We’ll be popping in the pub for a drink afterwards (about 9 to 9:30pm).



YHA St Briavels Castle

Step back in time and stay in a 12th Century Castle! YHA St Briavels, once King John's hunting lodge, has well-preserved medieval features including a magnificent a triple portcullis gatehouse. An opportunity to explore the Forest of Dean and walk in the Wye Valley.

Jim is intending to organise a day canoeing on the River Wye from Symonds Yat. Cost is £30 per person in a 2 or 3-person boat. This includes transport upstream to the start and around 3 hours on the water paddling back, plus opportunity for a picnic lunch. See "Canoe the Wye".

Deposit £75 to book your bed for the three nights, plus £30 if you want to be included in the canoeing.

Join Jim at the recently re-opened Viper PH at Mill Green, CM4 0PT. 7.30pm for food or 8.30pm for a drink.
