Wednesday 8th January Pub Night - The White Horse Cress Join us at the White Horse, Gt Baddow, CM2 7HH from 8:30pm for a drink or two. Wednesday 15th January Committee Meeting A Zoom meeting to plan events for May and trips for the summer. Sunday 19th January Sunday Walk - Coggeshall Cress A walk of 8 miles starting at 10.30am from Stoneham Street Car Park, Coggeshall CO6 1TT (///royally.ambushed.comet). There will be historic interest in Coggeshall with the fine Medieval Church of Coggeshall and the monastic barn and chapel. We can view Paycockes House and Grange Barn NT although both are closed in January. Visit the Kings Arms in Broad Green, Feering Church, Coggeshall Hamlet and enjoy a lovely walk along Blackwater River. Please bring sarnis. Wednesday 22nd January Coast to Coast Slideshow part 2 Marion The second part of James and Marion's coast to coast walk, crossing the Yorkshire Dales and Moors. Well worth a look whether you've ever thought of a long-distance walk or just fancy the armchair experience. On Zoom from 8.30pm. Wednesday 29th January Celebrate Chinese New Year Jonathan A meal out to mark the traditional start of the Chinese Year. Meet at 7.30pm at San Chinese Restaurant, 136 Moulsham Street, Chelmsford CM2 0JT. All you can eat for £22 + tip + drinks. Let Jonathan know by 22nd January if you want to join us so he can book a table. Friday 31st January to Sunday 2nd February The Jarman Centre, Newmarket Lynn A spacious hostel set in 18 acres of woodland at The Jarman Centre, a Girlguiding centre just outside Newmarket. Walks from Newmarket explore the picturesque countryside of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, including the Stour Valley Path which leads you through pretty villages and past the heathland gallops. You can walk the Devil's Dyke, one of the best surviving examples of Anglo-Saxon earthwork, and the ancient Icknield Way passes Newmarket. Newmarket is of course famous for horseracing, and The National Horseracing Museum and The National Stud are well worth visiting. The Jarman Centre is at 119 Duchess Drive, Newmarket CB8 9HB.
