Wednesday 6th October

Two Left Feet

Lorna

In anticipation of George's glorious barn dance at the weekend, Lorna has offered to put us through our paces and make sure we know the basic moves. So if you don't know your willow stripping from your promenade (or even if you do!) come along and be educated. If we successfully master the rudiments Lorna promises to introduce us to the steamy Latin rhythms of Ceroc dancing.

Saturday 9th October

George's Five-Oh

George

Many of you will be amazed that in spite of his youthful appearance George is about to reach his half century. To celebrate this momentous occasion he will be holding a barn dance at Chignall St James Village Hall from 7.30pm to about midnight. There will be a bar and a Polish-style buffet. Everyone is welcome, but parking is limited, so please coordinate transport with Lorna.

This is an event not to be missed!

Sunday 10th October

Saffron Walden Hostel Garden

Jim

More gardening work at the Youth Hostel. We plan to plant the climbing plants along the west wall amongst other jobs. Please let Jim know if you can come, and bring the usual gardening equipment. We'll be there from 10am to 5pm.

Wednesday 13th October

Annual General Meeting

We need your support! Please come and hear our report for the year, voice your opinions and ideas, vote or volunteer for the committee.

Friday 15th October to Sunday 17th October

Stow-on-the-Wold

Jim

A weekend at Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswolds; a region which is arguably the tea-shop capital of Britain. The hostel is situated in the market place in the middle of Stow, with one or two pubs a few doors away.

Attractions nearby include the famous villages of Bourton-on-the-water, and the Slaughters, the Oxfordshire, and Gloucestershire ways. Jim also has details of a 24 mile bike ride centred on Stow if anyone is interested.

£20 deposit by start of Sept. please. Total cost: £35

Wednesday 20th October

Room 101

Gary

In a blatant take off of the popular T.V. series, Gary will be inviting you bring along representations of the four things you most hate in the world. The evening will then be spent justifying their consignment to the eternal dustbin.

Caution! If you fail to argue convincingly enough, you will be forced to take your pet-hate home with you!

Friday 22nd October

Wild New Zealand!

Trudi
