Programme for July 1998

Wednesday 1st July

Wild, Wild Scotland

Dave

The results of our brilliant, island-hopping May trip will be there for all to see (no not the bandaged knees, walkingsticks and blisters). Bring your photos to delight and amaze your friends with views of Oban, Mull, Iona, Staffa etc. and if they’re still not green with envy Dave will produce a short slide show.

Wednesday 8th July

World Cup Semifinals

Dave J

Well, who knows England may make it this far, but even if they don’t, Dave J is throwing open his house so you can worship the mastery of the very best in the game (21 Bluebell Green, Springfield). Bring your own beer and crisps and check the paper for kickoff time.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone willing to host a non-football alternative.

Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July

Capel Curig, Snowdonia

Lorna

We will be staying at Capel Curig hostel. This is an excellent base in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park; the hostel overlooks a river and forest with inspiring views of Moel Siabod. Easy access to all the big mountains, and also riverside walks, forest tracks and waterfalls.

Total cost £38 (deposit £17)

Wednesday 15th July

Pitch and Putt

Dave J

Our annual pilgrimage to the Pitch and Putt in Waterhouse Lane. Lots of fun to be had by all as long as you can make it out of the first bunker! Definately no prizes for the best score but plenty of time to put peanuts in his beer in the Marsham Arms afterwards.

Meet at 8pm at the gates to the Pitch and Putt.

Sunday 19th July

Cambridge Punting Picnic

Alison

A pleasant sunny afternoon (I hope) eating too much and relaxing by the Cam. Punt on the river, take a tour of the town, frequent the many museums, go shopping in the Grafton Centre. Meet at the Y at 10am or at Dave & Ali's at 11am. Be sure to bring a straw boater and a large picnic hamper stuffed with goodies.

Wednesday 22nd July

T-Shirt Printing and Design

Lorna

Get those creative juices flowing and transform your scruffy old t-shirts into stunning fashion accessories that any Supermodel would be proud to be seen in. Be wild, be colourful, be there!

Wednesday 29th July

A Breath of Fresh Air

Trudi intends to take us on a short, but delightful walk round Woodham Walter both beginning and ending at "The Cats" Public House (GR 815076). Please meet at the YMCA at 7:15 or 7:45pm at the Pub.
