Wednesday 3rd January Music Quiz Nothing too highbrow, just a light-hearted quiz featuring some classic tunes used in films and commercials. Also an excellent opportunity to catch up with all the news and gossip from the New Year trip. Wednesday 10th January Pub Night Join us at the Beehive in Great Waltham to chase away those winter blues. With any luck someone will have New Year pics back by now and we'll have the chance to reminisce. (Leave Chelmsford north on B1008 Broomfield Rd; turn left to Gt.Waltham, Pub on left after sharp right bend, grid ref TL695135, see map) Saturday 13th January Dinner with the Stars Everyone is invited to Clare for a simple dinner followed by some sky gazing with Chris' amazing telescope (should the weather be clear enough) and games. Please let Janet know by 6th Jan if you intend coming, so she knows how many to expect. From 7pm, at Chris & Janet's house, bring a bottle. Contact Janet for directions. Great Dunmow Walk A walk of about 6 miles around Great Dunmow, Little Easton and the River Chelmer. Lunch probably at the Stag Inn, Little Easton, and possibilities of tea shops in Dunmow afterwards. Please let Dave know if you're coming. Meet at 11am in the car park in White Street, Great Dunmow (coming from Chelmsford, turn right off Dunmow High Street beside the Boar's Head pub. Car park is by the supermarket and public toilets, grid ref TL628219, see map) Wednesday 24th January Dutch Auction Wrap up those unwanted Christmas presents and have them auctioned (sight unseen) to the highest bidder. Some items will be bargains (e.g. CDs, camera films, books), some not (e.g. parsley sauce with cod, half a brick). Always enormous fun and all proceeds go to charity. Wednesday 31st January Kilimanjaro Slide Show The story of Dave's epic ascent of the Twin Peaks of Kilimanjaro told in breathtaking slides. Come early to be sure of a seat to sit on the edge of!
