Programme for December 2000

Wednesday 6th December

Pub Night

Lorna

Live Irish music in old Moulsham, look for us from 9pm in the Star & Garter on Moulsham Street. The music is so live it moves - if there's no music at the Star & Garter look for us in O'Connors Irish pub in Hall Street, just off Moulsham Street. Or you could knock on Lorna's door.

Sunday 10th December

A Walk around Fordham Heath

Paula

A walk in the Colne Valley from the village of Fordham Heath, near Colchester.

Meet at 10.30am at the playing field car park in Spring Lane, opposite the Cricketers PH (grid ref TL945263 see map).

The walk is about 6 miles, and afterwards we will return to the Cricketers for lunch about 2pm. (note that it's a popular pub and may take a while to be served)

Wednesday 13th December

Committee Meeting

Feel free to come along and join us, everyone welcome. Along with arranging forthcoming events and future trips we will be honing the finer details of our Christmas Feast.

Saturday 16th December

Christmas Dinner

Lorna

Our traditional gut-busting food-fest! Two enormous turkeys, with the usual mountain of crisply roasted spuds and succulent veg , all for just £6! How do we do it? The answer is by getting loads of volunteers to peel, chop, boil and roast. We also need someone to organise tables and napkins in the hall.

All members and guests welcome, but please pay by 6th December so we know how much food to buy. And say if you want a vegetarian option.

£6 to Dave. Volunteers to Lorna.

Empty stomachs to Chignall St James Village Hall 8pm, bring your own drinks.

To find it (grid ref TL665108, see map), take the A1060 (Rainsford Rd./Roxwell Rd.) out of Chelmsford; turn right at lights into Chignall Rd., after 1 mile turn left (Mashbury Rd) signposted Chignall St. James. Hall is on the left after almost 2 miles.

Wednesday 20th December

Photo Competition

Ali

As a variation on the traditional "sherry & mince pies" evening, we've decided to have a reminiscence of the past year. Please bring along any photos (or slides, but let me know if you need a projector) from the last year that you'd like to share with the group. As an incentive we will also be having a small photo competition, awarding (modest) prizes in three categories:

Best Caption (bring your shots which are just begging to have humorous lines added to them).

Best View (self explanatory, bring your best shots of the most gorgeous places you've been with CYHA in the last year).

Photo of the Year (a picture which sums up the spirit, or a particular event of CYHA from the last year).

Wednesday 27th December to Monday 1st January
