Programme for February 1999

We will be meeting in the Charles Peters lounge at the YMCA. If you have any suggestions for trips, Wednesday evenings or exciting excursions, please come along and share them so we can get them in next years programme.

Our annual pilgrimage from Maldon to Chelmsford to help fight off those Christmas pounds! This is a thirteen mile hike along the towpath of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. Starting from Heybridge Basin, we stop for lunch at the Rodney, Little Baddow at 1.00pm. We then continue on to Chelmsford. We shall leave cars at each end as this is a linear walk.

Meet at the YMCA at 9am or Heybridge Basin car park at 9.20 (we have to start promptly to finish before dark).

Have a drink at the oldest pub in Essex. The Green Man is in Howe Street (near Great Waltham), just off the A130 north of Chelmsford. Meet us there from about 8.30pm.

"Frog Firle" hostel is a large, partly 16^th century, flint-faced house just outside the quaint Sussex village of Alfriston, overlooking the picturesque Cuckmere Valley, close to the Seven Sisters Country Park and the South Downs Way.

(This replaces the proposed trip to Malvern Hills - which isn’t open in February!)

Well I know it’s a day late for Shrove Tuesday, but Jane has bravely offered to open up her kitchen to CYHAs very own fat-fest! Bring your own fat, flour milk & eggs and any exotic fillings you fancy. Drink is probably a good idea too as I don’t think Jane has tea (shock, horror!).

Please collect at Jane’s house from about 8pm onwards.

The Local Groups knees-up to beat all others. Lots of music and barn dancing with "Danny and the Works". A chance to show off your CHYA T-shirt and meet members of other YHA groups.

Lynn will be hosting an evening of rib-tickling loquacious fun as we learn to say what we mean without saying what we mean.
