Programme for January 1998

Thursday 1st January

Committee Meeting

8pm at Glenbrook Centre, Derbyshire.

Wednesday 7th January

Red Dwarf

Gary

A chance to re-live those early episodes as Gary picks out his favourites from the Sci-fi comedy classic.

Saturday 10th January

Go-Karting

Dave J.

We missed out last time as we didn't have enough confirmed bookings to reserve our place - so book early! The evening promises to include nailbiting heats and finals against each other and other teams.

Wednesday 14th January

Dutch Auction - The Legend Lives On!

Well I very much doubt that the "Parsley Sauce with Cod" or the half brick are going to make an appearance this year so it's probably safe to come along and bid. It's certainly an ideal opportunity to off load all those unwanted Christmas presents - and in the name of charity too! Just wrap them up so they can't be recognised. If you're really crafty you might even manage to sell them back to the person who gave them to you, as Lynn may well recall. As usual all proceeds go to the YMCA.

Sunday 18th January

Walk around Terling

Alison

Exact route yet to be determined, but we have got our priorities right by deciding on "The Dog and Gun" (between Little Waltham and Gt Leighs) for lunch. Please let me know if you plan to come so I can give approximate numbers to the Publican. Meet at YMCA at 10.30 or 11am in Terling (park opposite Village Hall).

Wednesday 21st January

Mount St. Helens Slide Show

Nigel

After some months away, Nigel has finally returned to the bosom of CYHA with a truly American urge to share all his experiences with us. This slide show promises to be spectacular - the Mount St Helens Experience!

Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th January

Wheathill Hostel, Shropshire

Dave

This simple hostel, described as "a haven of rural tranquility" is part of a 17th Century farm in unspoilt walking country, with access to the Shropshire Way, the Shropshire challenge Walk, and the Shropshire Ring Walk, and only a few miles from the historic medieval market town of Ludlow (architecture and tea-shops).

Total cost about £30. Deposit £12 by 10th January to book your bed please.

Wednesday 28th January

Pre-Ski Aerobics

Trudi

How to get those flabby thighs taut and muscular after all the Christmas excesses, whether you intend to use them skiing or not! Trudi will be leading the class with cries of "Bend-ze-Knees!" and apres-ski will be available at the Wheatsheaf afterwards.
