Barn Dance

Lorna

We're all invited by Lorna & Charmian to celebrate their respective decade birthdays. The fun starts at 7:30pm at Chelmsford Boys Club in Rectory Lane. Walk in Hatfield Forest

Ali & Dave

A walk of about 6 miles through the old deer park of Hatfield Forest. Meet at the YMCA at 10.30, or 11am at the forest car park (¾ mile south of the A120 at Takeley Street). We will stop for lunch (about 1 o'clock) at the Hop Poles Inn, Bedlar's Green. Please let us know if you're thinking of coming so we can warn the pub.

Wednesday 17th December

Christmas Decorations

Alison

A chance to throw glitter around and get your fingers stuck together - it may not be productive, but it will be fun!

Saturday 20th December

Christmas Dinner

This is the event that Chelmsford spends six months preparing for, and six months recovering from. It's held at Chignall St James Village Hall. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the meal and to decorate the hall - please contact Lorna. Extension flexes, spare cruets, fairy lights and table lamps would be gratefully borrowed to decorate the hall.

The meal consists of more delectable food than it is possible to describe, and there will be a vegetarian option; please let Dave know as soon as possible if you want the Turkey-less option.

To find it (grid ref TL665108), take the A1060 (Rainsford Rd./Roxwell Rd.) out of Chelmsford; turn right at lights into Chignall Rd., after 1 mile turn left (Mashbury Rd) signposted Chignall St. James. Hall is on the left after almost 2 miles.

Parking tends to be a problem so try to find somebody to share a lift with. Dress tends to be smart(ish).

£6 to Dave as soon as possible to book a place. All members and guests welcome, but please pay by 10th December so we know how much food to buy.

7.30 for 8pm, bring your own drinks.

Saturday 27th December to Sunday 4th January

New Year Trip to the Peak District

Dave

We are staying at Glenbrook Outdoor Activities Centre, which is between the villages of Hope and Hathersage in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. An excellent base for walking and exploring the Peaks, and close enough for nights out in Sheffield.

The centre has a well-equipped kitchen, a large hall, showers and full central heating.

The cost will be no more than £10 per night (including food), plus around £15 to the petrol fund for those sharing lifts from the Chelmsford area. Deposit £20 to Dave urgently to book a bed.

Bedding: Pillows and blankets are provided, but you need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow case.

How to get there: Glenbrook is on the north side of the A625 Hathersage to Castleton road, between the Rising Sun Hotel and the Travellers Rest. OS map sheet 110 grid ref 192829. You can also get there my train - both Bamford and Hope stations are 1½ miles away.

We are staying in the building called "Derwent" (turn right before the main Glenbrook House). Parking by the house is limited, so leave your car in the car park at the bottom of the drive.

Telephone number: If you need to contact us the payphone at Derwent is 01433 651973 (or contact the warden Mrs Allardyce on 01433 651567)

New Year's Eve Party: If you have any favourite party games, come prepared with any necessary equipment!
