Wednesday 3^rd September

Maldon Evening Walk

Meet at 7:30pm in Maldon at the Butt Lane car park (pass the Swan PH in the High Street, then turn left and left again, see map) have a lovely evening walk along the prom and wind up with a drink at the Queens Head, about 9pm.

Sunday 7^th September

Tollesbury Walk

Jim

Join Jim on a super 9-mile walk around the crinkles of Tollesbury taking in the sea breezes and salt marsh of the Blackwater estuary. From the centre of Tollesbury, follow the sign to the marina, and the car park is a few hundred yards on your left, near the scout hut (see map). Meet at 10.30am, and please bring sandwiches for lunch.

Wednesday 10^th September

World Cup Night

Mike & Cress

Fancy a night of world class footie with a pint & some friends? Mike & Cress plan to be watching the match from the White Hart, Billericay High Street (see map) from about 8pm – please come along!

Wednesday 17^th September

Bas Vegas Film Night

How about a night at the flicks? Empire Cinema, Festival Leisure Park, Basildon. At the time of going to press we weren’t sure what would be on, so please give Cress a call a few days before (by Tuesday 16^th at the latest) to see what’s on offer.

Ridgeway Weekend

A weekend at the Court Hill Centre in Oxfordshire (formerly YHA Ridgeway). Two miles south of Wantage, and only a few steps from the historic Ridgeway National Trail, the hostel has breathtaking views over the Vale of the White Horse. Comfortable accommodation is provided by a unique collection of converted barns around a traditional courtyard. There are magnificent walks along the Ridgeway Trail, with highlights including Waylands Smithy (a Stone Age long barrow built over 5000 years ago), and the Uffington White Horse, the oldest and most famous of the hill figures carved into the chalk hills.

Directions: From M4, take junction 14, and follow A338 towards Wantage. After 9 miles turn left into Court Hill Road and the Centre is on the left (grid ref SU393851, postcode OX12 9NE).

Deposit £30 to book your bed please. Total about £52.
