Wednesday 2nd June Pub Night Anyone not in Scotland is very much welcome to join Dave for a bevvy or two at the White Horse, Townfield Street (not far from the railway station, see map; park in Glebe Road public car park). A great selection of guest ales are always available. Wednesday 9th June Pitch 'n' Putt Make the most of these summer evenings by knocking a few balls around with some friends. Meet in the car park of West Park Pitch and Putt, Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford (see map) from 7:30pm, or join us in the nearby Marsham Arms from about 9pm. Sunday 13th June Sunday Walk Marion Meet at the railway station in Benfleet at 10:30 for a charming six or seven mile walk through Hadleigh Castle Country Park to Leigh-on-Sea, and returning by train. Please bring a picnic lunch, although there are plenty of pubs and cafés in Leigh at the end of the walk. Wednesday 16th June Committee Meeting Tell us where you want to go and what you want to do. Trip planning for the coming summer, including exciting Wednesday evening activities for August. Everybody is welcome. Wednesday 23rd June Mid-Summer Bike Ride Celebrate the longest day with a ride to The Viper pub. A modest distance at a modest pace, but bring lights for the ride home. This delightful country pub can be found on the road between Mill Green and Highwood, grid ref TL640019, see map. Meet 7:30pm outside the YMCA in Chelmsford. Friday 25th to Sunday 27th June Bridges Long Mynd Hostel, Shropshire A weekend in a peaceful location in the beautiful Shropshire countryside near Long Mynd. This small traditional hostel was the old village school in the valley between Long Mynd and Stiperstones. There are plenty of options for walking from the hostel. The Victorians called the area Little Switzerland and bottled the local spring water, but if you want something stronger, the splendid Horse Shoe Inn is only 100 yards from the hostel. £19 deposit please. Total cost about £40. Wednesday 30th June Scotland Revisited Bring out your slides & gorgeous pictures and relive the natural wonders of our recent Scotland break. Show all those who couldn't come what a wonderful thing they missed out on. Kilts & sporrans optional.
