Wednesday 7th July

Pub Walk

George

Meet at the Three Elms pub at 7:30pm for nice walk or in the bar from about 9pm for a jolly drink.

To find it, leave Chelmsford on the A1060 (Rainsford Rd/Roxwell Rd), turn right at lights into Chignall Road, after 1 mile turn left (Mashbury Rd), signposted Chignall St. James. The Three Elms is on the right after another mile. (Grid ref TL675097, see map).

Streatley hostel

Friday 9th to Sunday 11th July

Streatley-on-Thames Weekend

Ian

Everybody's welcome on this Chiltern weekend at Streatley-on-Thames, to celebrate Ian's half-century. This hostel is a comfortable Victorian house, close to one of the prettiest stretches of the River Thames, with plenty of walking on the nearby Ridgeway and Thames paths.

We'll probably walk along the Thames path to Watlington on Saturday, with a picnic by the riverside (any volunteers to carry the candelabra?), and possibility of a boat trip back. On Sunday we plan a higher level walk along the Ridgeway.

On Streatley Hill, Feb 2001

There'll be a special meal out for Ian's birthday on Saturday night (maximum cost £15 per head, as much drink as you want as long as you pay for it yourself!) at a secret venue, staggering distance from the hostel. For more details contact Claire, but don't tell Ian! (Claire will need to know your menu choices about a week before)

For more information about Goring and Streatley see the Goring Gap website, which includes a useful map showing the youth hostel and all the pubs.

£27 deposit please. (Total cost about £40 for petrol, bed, breakfasts and lunches. Saturday evening meal extra.)

Wednesday 14th July

Committee Meeting

Planning time! What do you want to do? Where do you want to go? We will be trip planning autumn and organising Wednesday evening activities for September. Everybody welcome!

Sunday 18th July

Sunday Walk ~ The Crouch Crinkles

Marion

Explore the crinkles along the River Crouch east of South Woodham Ferrers. Likely distance is about 8 - 9 miles. It will be a linear walk. There are no pubs/tea shops on route so packed lunches will be needed.

Meet 10:30 am at the car park by the river at grid ref TQ809956, see map. From South Woodham Ferrers follow signs to Marsh Farm, and carry on 200m south of the farm car park.

Wednesday 21st July

Evening Cycle Ride to Stock

Mike

Join us for a ride through leafy lanes from Billericay to Stock and back. Refreshment will be taken at the Hoop in Stock as the sun goes down. Please bring your lights for the ride back to Billericay.

Meet at 7:30pm in the Billericay High Street car park, behind Woolworth's, on the right hand side if you are coming from Chelmsford.

Wednesday 28th July
