Wednesday Meetings, Weekends Away & Other Events

October 2010

Sunday 3rd October

Dengie Cycle Ride

Doug

A cycle-ride around the Dengie Peninsula, between the estuaries of the Blackwater and the Crouch, remote and atmospheric,  around 20 miles in length. Views are of field, marsh and water. Most of the ride is along tarmac road, with a gentle off-road 3½ mile section along the sea wall, taking in the 6th century Saxon church of St.Peters-on-the-Wall, and Bradwell Power Station, now closed. This area, overlooking the North Sea would be a good spot for a picnic lunch, although there are opportunities for supplementary refreshment at the various pubs en-route.

Meet at 10.30am at the station car-park at Southminster (GR TQ962996).
