Wednesday 1st March Pub Night – Queens Head Ali The Queens Head, Boreham, CM3 3EG is a charmingly traditional pub situated in the heart of the village, next door to the church. There is limited parking immediately outside, but few restrictions in the surrounding roads. Join us from 8:30pm. Wednesday 8th March Committee meeting Planning events for June and trips for the autumn. Please feel free to join us, we’ll be at The Crown in Sandon. Friday 10th to Sunday 12th March 2017 Jordans Hostel, Buckinghamshire Dave/Cress YHA Jordans is a rural retreat in a tranquil village near Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire. We have exclusive use of the hostel this weekend. Following on from last year's very popular visit to Jordans, we plan to use it as a base to walk some more of the Thames Path. Possible walks: Saturday - Marlow to Henley-on-Thames - about 9 miles. Sunday - Henley to Tilehurst - about 12 miles. And you’re also welcome if you don’t want to walk – there are plenty of attractions in Windsor and the surrounding area. Deposit £42 please. Wednesday 15th March Pub Quiz – The Railway, Witham Dave J It’s quiz night at The Railway pub by the station in Witham, CM8 2DE. The quizzing starts at 8pm, but if you fancy some nosh Dave is planning to eat at 7:30. Wednesday 22nd March Vietnam Slideshow Jim, Dave P, Ali After some judicious editing, Dave, Jim & Ali have prepared a fabulous taster of this fascinating country. From World Heritage Sites to the remnants of war it’s a rollercoaster ride of extremes. Sunday 26th March Saffron Trail Part 1 Dave J Walk the first stage of the 71 mile Saffron Trail from Southend to Saffron Walden. We will meet at Hockley station in time for the 10.20 rail replacement bus to arrive at Southend Victoria at 10:54 for this 12 mile walk which goes along the sea front to Old Leigh and on into Hadleigh castle country park with good views over the Thames, there is quite a bit of urban walking but mixed with pretty woodlands and open countryside on the route back to Hockley to pick up our cars. The rest of the trail is all rural in the wilds of Essex which we will aim to do over the next year or so. Bring sandwiches. Wednesday 29th March Film night – Jackie Cress Jackie is a film about Jackie Kennedy in the period immediately after the assassination of her husband. Natalie Portman was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance. £6.90 to Dave P will buy you a seat. Film in the Cramphorn Theatre, Chelmsford, start at 8:00pm.
