Wednesday 2nd January No Meeting: Sorry guys, but we figure we’ll either still be nursing hangovers or struggling to adjust to the first day back at work. Wednesday 9th January Naples Slideshow Chase away the chills and damp of a British winter with images of golden sunshine-bathed Neapolitan streets, spiced with the volcanic might of Vesuvius and the ruined city of Pompeii – all courtesy of Helen & Dave’s trip last year. A must-see! Saturday 12th January Straw Bear The streets of Whittlesea (nr Peterborough) may not be seeing George and the Good Easter Molly Gang doing their lunge and grapple this time around (it’s a folky-dance thing, best not to ask). But there are plenty of other dancers to see and real ales to try whilst you experience a bit of British Culture in the raw. For details see: Straw Bear website Sunday 13th January Mill Green & Blackmore Walk Time to walk off some of those Christmas pounds with a modest 6½ miler through the remains of the ancient Writtle Forest with sweeping views over the village of Blackmore. Meet at 10:30am at the parking area opposite The Viper, Mill Green (grid ref TL640019, see map). From here we will be walking to the Leather Bottle, Blackmore for a spot of lunch about 1pm, before returning to Mill Green. Please let Jim know if you’re coming.
